Motherhood has a way of revealing just how much of us can show up in our parenting… our preferences, our expectations, our fears, even our need for control.
And whether we like it or not, our kids are learning from what we model. They’re watching how we respond, how we speak, how we forgive, how we handle disappointment, and how we walk through the hard things.
So if our kids are going to learn from what they see in us, our goal in motherhood isn’t to reflect ourselves, but to reflect Christ.
I wish I had this figured out, but here I am still learning, still surrendering, and still asking God to change me in the process.
Because sometimes the work God is doing in our kids starts with the work He’s doing in us.
Our children are learning from who we are becoming.
And my prayer is that as I become more like Christ, what they see in me will keep pointing them toward Him.
From my upcoming book, I Stopped Praying for My Kids… and Started Praying for Myself.
