It’s easy to focus on getting our kids to listen. But the truth is, the way we speak—and the way we show them truth—matters more than we often realize.
Just this weekend, I sat down with my kids and talked about James 3 and how much our words matter. As a parent, our words can either make Jesus feel safe and inviting…or distant and heavy. When truth is shared with love, it draws hearts in. When it isn’t, it can quietly push them away. Over time, loving communication builds trust—and a genuine desire to follow Jesus, not because they’re told to, but because they want to.
May we speak and behave in such a way that shapes their hearts today, knowing that those are the hearts they will carry tomorrow, and every day after that.
“And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” — James 3:18
