When fear starts making an appearance, remind yourself that not every fear deserves your attention or your agreement... and it certainly shouldn’t shape the way you live.
I’ve noticed that fear rarely starts with a bold statement. More often, it sounds like a question.
“Can I really do this?”
“What if I fail?”
“What if I’m not good enough?”
If we’re not careful, we’ll spend all our energy trying to answer those questions instead of stopping to ask whether they’re even rooted in the truth.
Before you answer fear, answer this first:
“Is this actually true?”
Then compare that thought to God’s Word.
Does it agree with who God is?
Does it agree with what He has promised?
If not, don’t give it your agreement.
Pause before you agree... with fear.
Choose to agree with God instead.
Because the thoughts you repeatedly agree with eventually shape the way you live.
